Nowadays, because of increasing market competition and rapid change of customer’s requirements, people in Mould & Die manufacturing enterprises have been searching how to modify the traditional paradigm of design and production to improve the efficiency of product development by fully using the current resource of Mould & Die enterprise. To attain this aim, Product Data Management(PDM) and Enterprise Resource Planning(ERP) came forth. With the development of enterprise information technology, Mould & Die manufacturing enterprises have pressed for that PDM could be extended to the entire life cycle of Mould & Die. As the bridge of information integration between PDM and ERP system, BOM(Bill of Material) management is becoming very important.This paper firstly analyzes the process of progressive generation and transformation of Mould & Die BOM. Aiming at the characteristic of progressive generation and transformation of Mould & Die BOM, combining principle of expert system, representation method for product is adopted to express the transforming rules. And then reasoning technology and precise matching method are used to come true the right transformation on Mould & Die BOM. An example has indicated that the method of the transformation is efficient. It doesn’t need any factual fault cases, can easily build the rudiment of the reasoning system by gaining some expert experiences. And then it is the workable way at the beginning of setting up the transform system. This paper secondly analyzes the characteristic of process of Mould & Die MBOM progressive add. And then researches the method of Mould & Die MBOM progressive add based on width research strategy. Finally, aiming at version control problem ofMould & Die MBOM progressive generation, this paper researches compare method of Mould & Die MBOM.At last, as the verification to the forward researching, the system, focused on the progressive generation and transform of Mould & Die BOM, is developed using GUI tool — Visual C#.net on Windows 2000 platform. The operation examples of basic of rule reasoning Mould & Die BOM transform and compare of Mould & Die MBOM management system are given.
