Since the New Curriculum carried on in Middle Schools all over the country, TBL (Task-based Learning Approach) has gained most respectivity and popularity among the circle of language teaching for Middle School teachers. TBL concentrates on the training of communicative abilities of English in a more practical way and language acquisition rather than language learning is focused. However, some English teachers cannot and will not perform this way of teaching; neither has effective and practicable tasks designed. According to the New Curriculum Standards and Design Tasks for Communicative Classroom by David Nunan, I’ve been working hard and tried different ways to get more evidence and providence for my research from both practical and theoretical points of view. Simple as it is, I want to set examples of a successful design for the task-based learning approach. There are five chapters in my essay. Chapter one is the general introduction of the research background and brief summary of the present situation of the English teaching and learning in China. People are no longer satisfied with their uncommunicative English abilities and try to meet with higher standards as well as challenge their selves.Chapter two is all about the origin, development and theoretical foundation of TBL. In chapter three I was trying to prove that TBL is more suitable to our reality and this kind of approach explores new ways and methods to support it. While in chapter four, some tasks about the textbook used in the middle schools in Changchun now were well-designed according to the principals of designing communicative tasks in Nunan’s book, for the sake of improving communicative abilities, reading and writing of middle school students. After the discussion and more researches with front-line teachers, it’s supposed to settle relatively stable model to design such tasks. And in chapter five, summarize the main problems have happened or may happen in the process of carrying on task-based approach.
