Applications of HACCP Quality Management System in the Feed Industry

This article reported the basic principles of the HACCP system and the seven programs:hazard analysis, identification of critical control points, identify critical control points critical limits, monitoring procedures for the establishment of control points, established corrective measures to establish verification procedures to establish record-keeping procedures, conducted a detailed description, and introduced the HACCP system in the development process and the application in China and abroad.Based on the actual situation in Linqu Liu He feed processing company, a feed HACCP quality’ management system were established. The organizational structure of the system was to establish HACCP team and the leaders were responsible for it. The team consists of formula, quality control department, production department, raw materials department, sales management department. A clear organizational structure of the duties and powers as well as the quality and security objectives were set up. Clear communication of information quality, safety procedures, the emergency preparedness, special circumstances for a wide range of emergency contingency plans and emergency preparedness were established and supervised by the production department. The human resource control procedures for quality-related positions staff competency requirements, staff recruitment process requirements, control procedures and personnel training requirements were established. The safety protection provisions, clear facilities, infrastructure, building maintenance and inspection standards as well as equipment maintenance procedures were drawned up. Control regulations and procedures, detailed the environmental control standards were formulated by the production department, which was responsible for controlling the work environment. Work standards of all stations were established.There were great significances about determination the critical control point for HACCP quality and the establishment of safety management system by comprehensive hazard analysis, including heavy metals, pesticide residues, dioxins, prohibited additives, antibiotic residues, microbiological hazards and raw material of physical harm. In view of the above, materials were accepted as one of the critical control points. As the company’s two production workshops produce different fodders in turn and it is easy to make the fodders mixed, positions for washing were established as one of the critical control points. It would be a significant hazard of excessive use of toxic formulations of raw materials or use of illicit drugs or prescribed by the state, so blending was set up as another critical control points. If the production process and the mixing time was set incorrectly, it could easily lead to uneven of the material, excessive of the local feed, drug overdose and a single species of raw materials. There would be great harm to the quality of the feed. Another mechanical failure was due to incomplete marker, resulting in mixing, so blending was established as the critical control points.Based on a comprehensive hazard analysis, critical control point was established to ensure procedures monitoring program and corrective measure of HACCP were opetated. Responsibilities and powers of each departments were clearly defined.The effectiveness of quality management system of HACCP after production management were evaluated. The problems and shortcomings were analysed during the period of implementation of quality management system of HACCP. The effective corrective measures were deliberated.
