The study consists of three parts. In the first part, the author outlines the teacher’s academic origins, including the formation of academic thought process modeled after the education of Chinese medicine in-depth study of ancient classics, and the gathering strength of the school of medicine and various modern medical research, which formed its own unique academic thought and the clinical experience about diagnostic and treatment peripheral vascular disease. In the second part, the author sums up the academic idea and clinical experience of Professor Chen Shuchang about peripheral vessel disease. The academic idea is a summary of Professor Chen about chronic arterial ischemic disease of lower extremity, chronic venous disease of lower limbs, the method of external treatment and preventing disease in early stage. The clinical experience is a summary of Professor Chen about arteriosclerosis obliterans, diabetic foot, deep venous valve insufficiency of lower limbs and so on.Arterial ischemic disease of lower extremity is a general term for diseases, including arteriosclerosis obliterans (ASO), thromboangiitis obliterans, diabetic limb atherosclerosis, lower extremity arterial thrombosis and other diseases. Although their causes are different, but ultimately can lead to lower limb artery stenosis or occlusion, can cause severe limb gangrene. They are a large class of harmful diseases and also the focus of the study of peripheral vascular disease.Venous disease in peripheral vascular disease, the most common, account for two thirds of the total number of clinical patients. Common lower extremity venous disease, including venous insufficiency, varicose veins, deep or superficial vein thrombosis, deep vein thrombosis syndrome, they have the same signs and symptoms. Such as limb swelling, acid precipitation, or pain, increased after the establishment of a long line for a long time, may emerge in the late boot area pigmentation, and even the formation of chronic ulcers. They greatly affect people’s quality of life.Outside the therapy in the treatment of peripheral vascular disease plays a very important position. Professor Chen thinks that the role of external treatment are more directly, using them properly, often times with half the effort. She has developed a number of significant effect of the topical prescr iption. The incidence of peripheral vascular disease is hidden, development is slow. Early symptoms are often not obvious, easy to delay treatment. Longer duration of illness, easily left after-effects, and some diseases have a higher morbidity, it is necessary to pay attention to early prevention and early treatment.Professor Chen engaged in research and teaching in peripheral vascular disease for 47 years. All aspects of peripheral vascular disease have in-depth study and experience. In a large number of clinical practice, based on the Diagnosis and Treatment has developed a unique theory and drug laws, has a wealth of clinical experience and good treatment. Articles in clinical experience, the authors summarize the main representative of the experience of several diseases, including arteriosclerosis obliterans, diabetic foot, venous insufficiency, leg ulcers and allergic skin vasculitis diseases. The third part is clinical research about treatment of PTS with strengthening spleen energy to eliminate dampness and promoting blood circulation. The author sums up the study progress on the treatment of PTS by Tradi tional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and the western medicine in the last 10 years. Meanwhile, the author sums up the academic idea of the director on treating PTS by TCM.In the last parts, To evaluate the efficacy of strengthening spleen energy to eliminate dampness and promoting blood circulation in treating PTS.60 Patients were randomly divided into two groups. There is not significant difference in age, gender and other aspects between two groups.30 cases were treated by the treatment of Maizhiling Pills (control group), to other 30 cases (treated group), Chinese durgs were given additionally according to the syndrome differentiation. The outcome showed that the integral of clinical symptoms and signs in both groups improved significantly while the excellent rate were 70%and33.3% separately which indicated a statistical difference. The author concluded, according to the study, strengthening spleen to eliminate dampness and promoting blood circulation was more excellent than Maizhiling Pills in improving the efficacy of PTS.
