Tracking and Data Relay Satellite System (TDRSS) provides data relay, continuous tracking and monitoring services with medium-low orbit spacecrafts and ground stations. Such TDRSS system can significantly reduce the use of ground-based monitors as well as increasing medium-low orbit coverage, hence enhance the efficiency of the usage of space along medium-low orbit.“Space target capturing and tracking”(STCT) is an important technique in data relay satellite system, and is the preliminary requirement to establish the space link.“Performance of Analyzing and Simulating on Tracking Receiver in Data Relay Satellite Capturing and Tracking System”plays an important role of STCT. Tracking receiver is an important partition of data relay satellite capturing and tracking system. Its performance affects the quality of space link directly. According to the technical requirements of data relay satellite system, we determine to exploit and analyze the oscillation amplitude comparison mono-pulse mode in a single channel mono-pulse, angular tracking manner in comparisons among several angular tracking modes e.g. cone scanning, step tracking, phase comparison mono-pulse and oscillation amplitude comparison mono-pulse.The article emphasizes on analyzing the ability to capture and track of a tracking receiver in antenna systems. And it precisely described the fundamental working principle of a relay satellite antenna capturing and tracking system as well as the factors could affect the working performance. Also the relevant techniques in such areas are summarized and concluded.In an automatic tracking system, we consider the tracking receiver as the core control unit. According to the tracking principle being exploited, we make the simulation plan and flow chart, and emphasis on discussing the facts that the tracking receiver in antenna systems affects the capturing and tracking systems. The data simulation model of the tracking receiver is built up. Using MATLAB simulation, we verify the fact, investigate the accuracy factors and finally conclude all in practice.
