Nowadays, pipe construction technique has been evolving from manual welding to automatic welding; therefore it is very important to develop automatic welding devices for pipe construction. Pipe arc welding robot is one of the advanced devices.In this thesis, a set of Intelligent Operation Platforms of Survey and Control for all-position arc welding robot has been developed. After retrospection the status of all-position welding devices in the world, a general program for the survey and control system was put forward and refined. The whole work was divided into three parts, including circuit layout for the system hardware, PCB board drawing and software design.Hardware designs include module circuit outputting design, module circuit inputting design, MAX232 circuit of communication interface design, man-machine dialogue circuit design and every PCB design. It also presents each circuit diagram in details as well as the function realization. There are two parts for the software design, one is system software design including industrial control computer management & operation system design and every function module design; the other is program design from every SCM functional module and SCM communication program design. On this basis, some modules design of intelligent software operation platforms for the pipe are welding robot was compiled by using Visual C++ 6.0, such as welding real time operation platform, welding self-diagnosis operation platform, welding seam tracking platform and so on.The system realizes a series of functions. It can gather, memorize, edit and call the welding processing parameters and can debug devices. It can do some certain intelligent searching work and it can also do real time work to control the main welding processing parameter and provide fault self-diagnosis function at
