Objective To investigate the serum and urine concentration of Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and it’s expression of VEGF in renal tissues of male Wistar rat with ischemia/ reperfusion injury.Methods Rat renal I/R model was performed by placing the atraumatic microvascular clamp in both renal artery for 60 minutes. serum VEGF and urine VEGF were detected at various intervals with ELISA. The expression of VEGF in renal tissues was detected by immunohistochemical staining.We also examined possible association between the serum concentrations of VEGF and renal function and renal tubular necrosis score and other correlate index.Result⑴.renal/weight index significantly increased from 12 hour to 72 hour post-reperfusion(p<0.05),and reached its peak in 48 hour.⑵.Plasma levels of BUN, Cr and kalium significantly increased from 6h to 76h post- reperfusion(p<0.05), reached its peak in 48 hour.⑶. Plasma levels of VEGF significantly increased from 6h to 12h post-reperfusion, reached its peak in 12h post-reperfusion(p<0.05).⑷.urine levels of VEGF significantly increased at 6h post-reperfusion,whereas it significantly reduced at 24h post-reperfusion (p<0.01).⑸. Expression of VEGF in renal tubule significantly increased from 6h to 48h post-reperfusion, reached its peak in 12h post-reperfusion(P<0.01),was closed to that of chontrol at 72h post-reperfusion.⑹. renal tubular necrosis score significantly increased from 6h to 72h post-reperfusion, reached its peak in 48h post-reperfusion(P<0.05).⑺. serum levels VEGF was positively correlated with urine levels of VEGF and expression of renal tubule VEGF(P<0.01).⑻. Expression of nephric tubule VEGF was positively correlated with renal/weight
