Research on Treatment Process of the Phenol Waste-water by Modified Aged-refuse

This paper fully discussed the aged-refuse modification, adsorption and desorption of phenol-containing wastewater by modified aged-refuse, and made adsorption bed cooperation with bioreactor full of aged-refuse in order to obtain a new treatment process for middle-high phenol-containing wastewater (500~1000mg/L).Experimental results showed:1) CTMAB-modification aged-refuse adsorption capacity of phenol is superior to thermal modification, H2SO4-modification and AlCl3 modification aged-refuse; the CTMAB-aged-refuse optimal modification conditions by single factor method are as follows: the CTMAB mass concentration is 0.5%, modification time is 2h, pH=9 and the temperature is 60℃, Its adsorption capacity for phenol is 2.78 times of original aged-refuse under the same adsorption conditions.2) The modified aged-refuse’s adsorption equilibrium time of phenol is 15min; the adsorption capacity of phenol decreases as the pH value increases; the removal rate is positively correlated with dosage but adsorption capacity is negatively, and the temperature has litter effect on the adsorption capacity; Langmuir equation and Freundlich equation fit phenol adsorption isotherm equation well, while Temkin equation fits poorly. The modified aged-refuse TII value is 0.19 and it shows modified aged-refuse has better desorption reversibility than original aged-refuse.3) As the influent concentration of phenol increases the penetration time reduces,and the penetration time is negatively correlated with the column height. in downstream desorption process, the concentration of deadsorbed phenol increases gradually, then decreases after reaching the peak. The countercurrent desorption time is shorter than the downstream desorption and the desorption concentration decreases gradually and the pean concentration is lower than the dowanstream desorption’s peak concentration, which not only helps alleviating the loading of the following biological treatment bed, but also helps the column to prevent blockage. Elovich equation, parabolic equation and two-constant equation have a better fitting for kinetics of adsorption and desorption of phenol model.4) After 30 days microbial cultivation and domestication, the aged-refuse bioreactor shows a good biodegradation of phenol, as the water distribution rate increases, the phenol removal efficiency decreases under the same phenol concentration, while under the same water distribution rate, the aged refuse bioreactor will break down after getting the given high phenol concentration, which has inhibition to the microorganisms and makes the biosystem unsteadily.5) By mechanism analysis, the joint process loses the research need because of the low desorption rate and the high amount of water for desorption.
