Cooperation has become a very important quality for people to exist and develop in the modern world. The cooperative and creative spirits have become the ear spirits in the 21th century and an important part in one’s outlook on life and world. Currently, cooperative learning is a popular teaching theory and a system of strategy, as well as a sort of teaching reform that has been widely adopted all over the world and has been regarded as the most effective teaching model and strategy to promote students’ creativity, consciousness of collectivism and cooperation. New National Standards of English Course《Experimental Edition》puts more emphasis on the importance of cooperation learning. It’s profile explicitly reveals that the reform of the English course advocates experience, practice, participation, and communicative learning style and task-oriented approach based on learners’ interests, life experience and cognitive level, aiming at developing learners’ comprehensive abilities. communication and the approach of task-based teaching, making the process of learning language the one that develops the students’ active sensibility. Joining with the actual English teaching practice, the author carried out an experiment of cooperative approach to junior English teaching and argues about the applications of group cooperation in class, which is of important reference value to increasing its English teaching level. It is p roved to be true that cooperative learning may be one of the most efficient approaches to improve the atmosphere in the classroom as well as English learners’ grades. This thesis aims at probing into the feasibility of applying cooperative learning in groups to the junior English class. By the means of theory analysis and experiment, it first describes the present situation of English class teaching and reviews the concepts significance background and strategy of cooperative learning.Then it analyses how to carrying out the teaching method in the junior English class.The relative experiment is carried out to prove that cooperative learning is an effective teaching method in junior schools on some students of Grade Three in Zha Shan middle school. The results show that the students’ grade has a significant improvement after being tested on. So we can get a conclusion that it is feasible to carry out the strategy of Cooperative Learning in practice.
