With the dramatic increase in the number of cars , urban traffic conditions increasing people 's attention. How to effectively carry out traffic management , has become the focus of public concern . Based on digital image processing of traffic management and monitoring system is different from the traditional method of induction coil , with processing speed, lower cost of installation and maintenance easy and can monitor a wide range of available a wider variety of traffic parameters and many other advantages , has more and more people 's attention. This paper implements a method based on image processing vehicle detection system. In the analysis of the PC-based DSP processor architecture and the shortcomings of the video detection system based on from the reliability, stability, real-time and development costs and other factors into consideration, the FPGA chip as the central processor for embedded parallel data processing system design. Using the video camera shooting on the road , re-use FPGA for processing, greatly increasing the vehicle detection convenience and flexibility . The system uses a modular hardware design method to construct video vehicle detection system based on FPGA platform. System consists of a CMOS image sensor module , DDR2 SDRAM frame buffer module, image pre-processing and analysis and detection modules and other components , a better solution for image capture, video analysis and other issues, and to extend the capabilities of the system for the future laid a good foundation. In the algorithm , the study of video-based video vehicle detection algorithms focus on how to use the FPGA to achieve background subtraction method to improve the image detection speed. In the implementation , the study of how these video vehicle detection algorithm implemented in hardware on the FPGA system . The system FPGA design Using Verilog HDL language, and each module is given and timing state machine design for functional simulation and performance analysis. The results show that the video vehicle detection system has high detection accuracy , through the FPGA accelerated effectively improve the detection speed , with good real-time.
