Foam processing has become one of the hot study regions in the world today with the widely application of plastic products. Extrusion die ,for the most important part of molding equipment are always designed in traditional method, which will have many problems,such as complicated design procedures, low accuracy and inefficiency. In this sense, the study of parametric design of flow channel and analysis of flow field are necessary and of great significance.In addition to analyze the rheological behavior of polymer, the polymer flow in circular and rectangular flow channel are also studied. Structure and design parameters such as uniformity index of flow, gap of cross section, radius of manifold, thickness of die-lip of the three typical flow channels are analyzed based on it. Besides, methods of optimization of fish-tail die and coat-hanger die are proposed, which include optimizing the height of cross section, optimizing diffusive angle, optimizing the maximum and minimum radius of manifold, optimizing central angle.Visual interface is employed by using Visual Basic 6.0.The parameters of flow channels are considered as variable write into the program,which has make use of API(Application Programming Interface)supported by SolidWorks.The parametrized design was carried out by loading plug-in of DLL in SolidWorks.Trend of channel modles can be observed visually and analyzed when basic parameters,such as the parameters of extruder, materials are changed,with the help of parametric design system.Parametrized and automatic establishing 3D mode of the flow channels are carried out by the methods of program drive,which reduce the workload, time of the design and improve the efficiency.The mold flow of the flow channels which set up by the system of parametric design is analyzed. The software Fluent is used to simulate the distribution of pressure, velocity and temperature in the flow channel based on the objective conditions during the course of produce, which can be accorded as the structure optimization and improvement of flow channel.The system realizes parametrized design of the three kinds of flow channels based on the research of structure and parameters.The flow channel can be generated automatically when the parameters for design are entered, The rational of design of the flow channels can be analysis through CAE.Which can also help to fine-tune the structure of channels.
