Structural characteristics gives excellent foam sound insulation, shock absorption, insulation properties, the molecular chain of the highly saturated nature ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) with superior heat resistance, cold resistance and mechanical properties. Of EPDM foam material prepared by the base system, the larger application prospects in the packaging, construction, transportation and other fields. Rheometer test the vulcanization characteristics of the rubber material, the decomposition temperature of the foaming agent to the thermal gravimetric analysis interval and scanning electron microscopy of the cell structure of the foamed sheet, discusses the vulcanization system, a foaming agent, a filler, etc. formulation factors and process time, temperature, and other factors of the macro-mechanical properties of EPDM foam material and microscopic cell structure. The results showed that meter EPDM 100phr, vulcanization accelerator M and TT with a blowing agent the AC amount of 12 phr, the amount of carbon black N550 40 phr, under conditions of 185 ℃ foamed 15min EPDM foamed material having optimum mechanical properties and cell structure. Huck rheological instrumentation intrinsic degree of crosslinking, vulcanization instrumentation intrinsic vulcanization characteristics, combined with the apparent density and expansion ratio test proved the feasibility of the EPDM foamed material was prepared using the pre-vulcanization process. When the amount of sulfur as a pre-vulcanizing agent 0.05phr, pre-vulcanized rubber of the gel content of about 10% to ensure that the plastic material before being foamed, i.e. with a certain degree of melt strength and prolong the relaxation time of the rubber molecule chains, improve the utilization of the blowing agent, to broaden the processing platform. By compression stress - strain curve test, discussed the density compression behavior of EPDM foam material, the characteristics of the energy absorbing foam material under different stress and strain levels. Energy absorption efficiency E and the ideal parameters I as a standard to evaluate the effect of the energy-absorbing material under constant strain level. When the blowing agent used in an amount of 12 phr, styrofoam under certain conditions, the corresponding energy absorption characteristics of the best, the highest energy absorbing efficiency. Rely on dynamic mechanical viscoelastic spectrum to the tangent of the loss of value of the peak width and peak as the research object, seek the damping properties of EPDM foam material changes with temperature and frequency, compared foaming agent, filler for foam material damping the impact of the performance. The results showed that EPDM foam material damping performance presents the trend first and then decreased with increasing temperature and frequency. This article was prepared in the EPDM foamed material, glass transition temperature -30 ° C - 40 ° C, loss tangent peak of 0.8-1.0, to meet the relevant requirements of the damping with the polymer material, and having excellent low temperature damping properties.
