The substation is the essential power facilities in the power system, and its main task is to transform the voltage, receiving and distributing power to control the flow of electricity and adjust the voltage. With the rapid development of substation automation technology, a variety of different types of intelligent electronic devices in the substation areas, these devices are gradually replacing the traditional protection devices. Because the IED wide variety of intelligent electronic devices produced by different manufacturers provide different communication interface that can not directly communicate between different devices need to communicate through a protocol converter to which not only caused by the repeated investment in hardware and software, also increase the cost of operation and maintenance of the substation. Developed by IEC TC57 IEC61850 substation communication network and system generation, good to solve the the above substation equipment interoperability problem. Intelligent electronic devices to comply with the IEC61850 standard IED modeling, configuration, and communication launched an in-depth study, divided into the IEC61850 standard system analysis, the specific model and communication mapping three parts. This paper first introduces the research status of development and IEC61850 standard for substation communication system. Detailed description and data communication technology for intelligent electronic devices, communication protocols including equipment communication interface equipment and substation communication protocol of three parts, namely, the different communication technologies, explains the advantages and disadvantages of each. After analysis of research the IEC61850 standard system, the technical features, including the information hierarchical modeling of data objects, abstract communication service interface and special communication service mapping Substation Configuration Description Language. On this basis, IEC61850 standards-based modeling techniques, first introduced modeling approach for intelligent electronic devices, universal circuit breaker is an example functional decomposition, data modeling and SCL on Substation Configuration Description Language The circuit breaker configuration. Finally, the the IEC61850 standard special communication service mapping technology, respectively, the description of the mapping of the four cases, including core ACSI service, fast packet transmission services, the GSSE packet transmission services, time and time synchronization services, and focuses on face Substation Event GOOSE message transmission services to the generic object mapping, and design communication programs, the use of the the Winpcap network development package analog transmission of GOOSE messages between the two PC.
