The Current Situation and Countermeasure Research on Guangzhou High School Students’ Interests in Biology Experiment

Interest makes students to be proactive about learning activities so that they could obtain good learning results. It is a pressing need of the biology experimental teaching to pay attention to biology experimental learning interest and also this should arouse overall concern of educators. Studying the subject of senior high school students’ interest towards biology experiment helps to raise the experimental teaching quality as well as the experimental teaching effect. This study is based on the characteristics of senior high school students and senior high school biology experiment. After preliminary survey, validity and credibility survey, author works out questionnaires for students and teachers——"the study of senior high school students’ learning interest towards biology experiment". In this questionnaire author conducts a survey and interviews about senior high school students’ biology experimental interest with 31 senior high school biology teachers from 6 senior high schools of three levels in Guangzhou. Through mathematical statistics and analysis of the questionnaire, author puts forward corresponding countermeasures and all this offers theoretical reference for raising the teaching effect of biology experimental teaching.This questionnaire result shows that the majority of students are interested in biology experiment, but only a few students want to take this as an ambition. The majority wants to learn biology experiment well and they also participate actively, but they seldom rethink after classes. School records, learning ability, students’ knowledge toward biology experiment, experimental patterns and teachers are all related to the biology experiment learning interest. The difference among different grades is remarkable, between different sexes is slight, between first class high school of provincial level and municipal level is remarkable, and between first class high school of provincial level and common high school is slight.Based on the current situation analysis of senior high school students’ biology experimental learning interest in Guangzhou, author puts forward corresponding countermeasures of raising high school students’ learning interest towards biology experiment from the aspect of attitude, feeling, participation and influence factors. These measures include forming a good learning attitude, raising learning interest; helping students feel good in biology experiment classes; raising the participation of students in biology experiment classes; combining theory with practice and forming right acknowledge; improving the contents and ways of examinations to put emphasis on biology experiment; training biology teachers with excellent experimental teaching ability; strengthening the constructions of labs to provide comfortable environment for biology experimental teaching; doing basic experimental skills training to raise students’ experimental ability. All these measures help to stimulate and keep students’ learning interest towards biology experiment and therefore raise the biology experimental teaching quality overall.
