Research on the Rural Area of Eastern Guangdong of Junior Middle School Students with Mathematics Disabilities

The main research of this paper focuses on the present situation of the junior middle school students of the mathematics disabilities who study in the rural area of eastern Guangdong, and then adopt some conversion strategies in accordance of the result. The goal of this research is to provide the reference of conversion strategies for the junior middle school mathematics disabilities students who live in the rural areas of eastern Guangdong and the similar areas.First of all, by reviewing of the relevant literatures both at home and abroad to introduce the content and the achievement of the post researches, illuminating the significance and the aims of this paper research. Then the random sample survey is taken in the three junior middle schools in the rural areas of eastern Guangdong. And the result of survey shows that the situation is serious, the proportion of the mathematics disabilities students reaches to 50%. The further test, the closed questionnaire, is carried in these three schools. The analysis of the survey data shows that there are many reasons causing the mathematics disabilities. There are as following.(1) With the influences of the local developed economy, the popular business culture and the view on study uselessness, the parents’expectations about their children learning are very low.(2) The proportion of the left-behind students is quite high; these students are lack of the necessary concerns and the education in their families.(3) The overpopulation leads to the serious shortage of educational resource, so teaching in the large class is common thing in the rural areas.(4) The qualities of the teachers are very unbalanced. Besides, many teacher trainings can not give play to their advantages, and the poor salary as well as other reasons make the teachers’ working passion is down.(5) As to the students of mathematic disability, they are lack of interest in learning mathematics, their study motivation is weak, and their mathematic knowledge exist some structure defects. In addition, their cognitive and metacognitive levels are not high.In view of the reasons above, the author adopts interrelated conversion strategies to carry out the education intervention experiment. The experimental results show that these strategies are effective to convert the learning situations of the mathematics disabilities students. Therefore, based on the research results, the author offers some specific conversion strategies for the teachers, the students’families and the society, with the hope that these strategies can play some active impacts in the conversion of the mathematics disabilities students.
