Analysis on the Flow Field of a Torque Converter

This article is a project basis with hydromechanical transmission Institute of Jilin University, Chongqing Hongyu Machinery Factory jointly developed torque converter , a torque converter developed as the research object , with Unigraphics, GAMBIT and FLUENT platform , the calculation and analysis of the internal flow field of the torque converter . The main conclusions of the study are: 1 . Simulation results and experimental comparison shows that the numerical calculation is more accurate ; research torque converter performance , high efficiency , and can be used for practical . 2 . Pump rotation channel internal flow separation , countercurrent and secondary flow phenomenon is mainly due to the impact of the non-face by the flow at the entrance of the pump wheel to make the liquid flow loss increases . 3 . Turbine inlet bend large , prone to flow separation , curvature of the flow channel , complex flow field characteristics . 4 . Shorter channel length of the guide wheel angle changes , it acts to change the direction of the liquid velocity , increasing the role of the rotation axis of moment of momentum , so changes in the flow field is very complex . Shock loss guide wheel hydraulic loss is more serious . Flow field analysis of the torque converter in depth understanding of the mechanism of its work , a great benefit to the design of the torque converter ; and also CFD is a powerful tool to optimize the design .
