Objective: To research the mechanism of cerebral protection of acupuncture and to direct the clinic treatment, through the experimental study of BaiHui-QuBin scalp-acupuncture on immunohistochemical method of neuron specific enolase after intracerebral hemorrhage in rat.Method: 1.Totally 130 male wistar rats were randomly allocated into four group: blank group(n=10), intracerebral hemorrhage control group(n=40), acupuncture group(n=40), and western medicine (pisacetam) group(n=40).2. The rat models of acute intracerebral hemorrhage were made.3. The acupuncture point: BaiHui point to QuBin point, which can penetrate three regions of the cupula and forehead and temple.4. The Berderson neural deficit scores were tested at three time points (6h, l,2d after hemorrhage model establishment) before the rat models were killed, then the brains were removed and index were detected.5. The masculine cell populations of NSE by immunohistochemical method were checked, the morphologic change on light microscope was observed, and the brain water content was measured.6. Statistical treatment was made. Results: 1. The results of masculine cell populations of NSE at 1 day and 2 days in acupuncture group and western medicine group were lower than those in intracerebral hemorrhage group (ICH); there was difference between acupuncture group and western medicine group at 2days.2. The results of brain water content at 1 day and 2 days in acupuncture group and western medicine group were lower than those in intracerebral hemorrhage group; there was difference between acupuncture group and western medicine group at 2 days.3. The results of the brain pathological change in acupuncture group and western medicine group is different from those in intracerebral hemorrhage group. Conclusion: 1. BaiHui-QuBin scalp-acupuncture therapy can relieve the cerebral edema, improve ischemia and hypoxia, and protect nerve cell by the results of masculine cell population of NSE and brain water content.2. BaiHui-QuBin acupuncture can obviously raise the Berderson neural deficit scores, and have the benefit of improvement of clinical symptom after intracerebral hemorrhage.
