Great works of arts always bring more than one truth to light. People, thus, can draw different conclusions from different perspectives and by different means. The novel Wuthering Heights is such a great work. This dissertation puts this novel in the synchronic and diachronic coordinate, adopts the methods of syntheses criticism and goes deep into its deep structure from its outer structure, aiming ultimately at revealing its tragic conscious and its value. It consists of six parts.Introduction: This part is concerned with the plots of the novel, different annotations about this novel and the flaws in these annotations by the western critics in the twentieth century, as well as my frame of interpretation.Part one: Starting from the perspective of "marginal Man", this part focuses on the outer structure (narrative structure) and explains that it reflects the tragic situations of the marginal Man. The tragic life is the presentation of the tragedy of the Victorian marginal Man.Part two: Seen from the angles of literary archetypal criticism and feminist literary theory, the tragedy of the marginal Man is the displacement of the tragedy of Orestes and Klutaimèstra in the Trilogy of Oresteia. The novel refracts the deep tragic pattern of the Human in its inner structure (tragic structure ) , that is, the tragic God look down at the tragic people in the tragic word. The Human are born freedom and are yoked by the chains and fetters, nonetheless.Part three: Adopt Lacan’s theories of "Mirror Stage", "imaginary order" and "symbolic order" & expound that the novel presages the solitude, desperation and paradox of the Human and the division, dispelling and reconstruction of the subject in its deep structure (mirror structure), that is to say, the subject is divided and is inhabited by the Other (symbolic father, law, culture, etc.). In the symbolic order, the individual begins to be a subject on the basis of building relationship with the Other. The subject always tries<WP=6>to regain his (her) "identity" in the imaginary order and gets into the course of reconstruction.Part four: From the view points of psychoanalysis criticism and feminist criticism, the novel takes on the division between Emily’s imaginary self and her social self. The fragment and ambiguity of the novel is attributed to the "ideological interpellation of individual as subject".Conclusion: The novel Wuthering Heights seems to be the convergence of the multiple structures. It’s a novel of concentric circles, meanwhile, it’s full of centrifugal forces. Its charming surface covers painstaking moral structure and strong tragic conscious. The value of this novel is that it presents the history of the Human, the history of the division between reality and possibility, a dialectic history.
