With the development in Chinese new curriculum reform, China has started some teaching experiments on ideological and political teaching in new teaching belief since the autumn of the year 2003. This has made it urgent for teachers teaching the course of ideological and political class to change their old teaching ideas into new ones so that the students can fully be developed in the future. Under the guiding of Marxism, the dissertation has well carried out an exploratory study in order to promote the development of ideological and political teaching and give referential help for the ideological and political class.The dissertation consists of three chapters.Chapter One presents the characteristics, tasks and teaching elements of ideological and political class. Here we have done a careful study of intentions, mutual relation of teaching in the ideological and political class based on a discussion of the implications, characteristics, tasks of it, which provides theoretical foundation for further study.Chapter two is the core chapter of this dissertation, which analyzes the current situation and the problems in Ideological and Political Teaching. This study used different research methods, such as interviews, questionnaires, and literature analysis. And the goal of the achievement, problem and its cause in the ideological and political teaching has been achieved. In brief, its problem lies in the following aspects: the status of curriculum, teaching materials, teaching methods, the standard of evaluation and the students’ interest to the ideological and political teaching. And at the same time, its cause has been analyzed.Chapter three explores Developmental Countermeasures of the ideological and political teaching. According to the problems mentioned in Chapter Two, the dissertation points out Developmental Countermeasures of the ideological and political teaching. It has seven key Developmental Countermeasures, three of which are the most important. First, teachers should actively change their teaching ideas. Secondly, they should grasp the scientific principles of the ideological and political teaching. Thirdly, they should reform their teaching.
