The arrival of the information age, the mass media become a powerful force, and become an important part of an integral part of people's lives. Mass media to construct reality in unique ways to subtly influence the way our cognitive, behavior and value judgments, and even affect the way of life of the people. Can people be rational and effective use of the media, and plays an essential role in the survival and development of the individual in the information society. In this case, media literacy is becoming an extension of the basic cultural literacy of citizens, to become one of the basic qualities of every modern citizen must. First of the past media literacy theory and research review, to clarify the concept of media literacy and metrics, and own way of understanding the metrics of media literacy, including media consumption, media awareness, media understanding, media criticism, media interactive five dimensions. Under this measure dimensions were Shijiazhuang City, two junior high school, two high schools and two universities nearly six hundred young people as a sample survey of the status of youth media literacy of young people and the different stages of learning media literacy differences With a preliminary understanding. The research findings show that youth media literacy there are many defects. In media consumption, are network media consumption-based, the students online media contact rate is higher than the high school students, junior high school students online media contact time highest; cognitive aspects in the media there are some differences between different groups, media types and content evaluation, and understanding of media technology, college students than high school students understanding more comprehensive; young people form their own attitude in general will be the impact of television host subjective inclination or newspaper editor; young people in the media to understand there is a deviation, which the high school students of the class attribute obvious bias: most lack of understanding on the critical dimension of the media, the generally tolerant attitude to take on some of the negative media content and foreign media, the most obvious of which high school students; the final young people degree of interaction with the media is not the lowest, middle school students, which their usual onerous task of learning a certain relationship. Overall, the level of media literacy of college students than high school students, the difference is caused due to the learning environment and experience different. Especially in two dimensions and critical understanding of media. Their understanding of the media as well as the media's negative impact on the understanding is not enough, suggesting that young people also can not effectively use the media, can not be an objective assessment and criticism of the media. Therefore, media literacy education is imperative. On this basis, the difference for high school students and college students media literacy status, respectively, put forward some suggestions in the media literacy education.
