Changes of Bone Minery Density (BMD) and Bone Metabolism Markers of the Patients with Hyperthyroidism Untreated and Treated with ~(131)I

Objective: To investigate the changes of bone metabolism of the patients with hyperthyroidism before and after 131I therapy by the measurement of the value of BMD, OC, PTH, CT, ALP, Ca and P. Methods: 58 cases were diagnosed by the examination of 131I uptake test, thyroid scanner and the measurement of the serum level of T3, T4and s-TSH and their clinical symptom . The 5 ml vein blood of all patients was collected before and 3 months and 6 months after 131I therapy and the serum separated immediately from the blood was preserved in the low temperature at -30 C. The serum level of T3, T4, s-TSH, OC, PTH, CT, ALP, Ca and P was measured within 2 months. The bone minery density of the forearm, 1umbar (L2~L4) and femur including Neck, Tard and Troch was obtained before and 3 months and 6 months after 131I therapy . The average BMD of them was analyzed statistically. The patients were divided into four groups: the euthyroid group, hypothroidism group, hyperthyroidism group, partial euthyroid group according to the curative effect 3 months and 6 months after 131I therapy. The bone metabolism markers of all groups were analyzed statistically. Results: (1)There were significant differences between the serum T3 ,T4 and s-TSH level of the patients untreated and that of the patients treated after 3 months and 6 months (P<0. 05 and P<0. 01). There were significant differences between the serum T3 , T4 and s-TSH level of the patients treated after 3 months and that of the patients treated after 6 months(P<0. 05). (2)Therewere no significant differences between BMD of the patients untreated and those treated after 3 months. There were no significant differences among the groups treated after 3 months(P>0.05). There were significant differences between the patients untreated and those except the hyperthyroidism group treated after 6 months(P<0.05). There were significant differences between the hyperthyroidism group and the other groups after I31I therapy(P<0. 05). There were no significant differences among the groups except the hyperthyroidism group. (3)There were no significant differences between the serum markers of the groups except the hyperthyroidism group after 131I therapy. (1) There were significant differences between the serum OC level of the patients untreated and treated after 3 months and 6 months(P<0.01). There were significant differences between the hyperthyroidism group and the other groups after 131I therapy (P<0.01 and P<0.05). (2)There were significant differences between the CT level of the patients untreated and that of the euthyroid group treated after 3 months (P<0.05). There were no significant differences between that of the patients untreated and the other groups treated after 3 months. There were significant differences between that of the patients untreated and that of the patients treated after 6 months and between the hyperthyroidism group and the other groups treated after 6 months (P<0. 01 and P<0. 05). (3)There were no significant differences the PTH level of the patients untreated and that of the patients treated after 3 and 6 months and between that of the hyperthyroidism group and that of the other groups (P>0. 05). (4)There were significant differences between the CT/PTH radio of the the patients untreated and that of the patients treated after 3 and 6 months(P<0. 05 and P<0. 01). There were significantdifferences between the hyperthyroidism group and the other groups after 131I therapy (P<0. 01). (5)There were no significant differences between serum ALP level of the patients untreated and that of the patients treated after 3 months. There were singnificant differences between that of the patients untreated and those treated after 6 months and between that of the hyperthyroidism group and the other groups (P<0.05). (6) There were significant differences between the serum Ca level of the patients untreated and that of the patients treated after 3 and 6 months and between that of the hyperthyroidism group and the other groups after 131I therapy (P<0. 05).
