Instruction software is a very important component of computer assistant instruction (CAI). The situation of physics teaching supported by multimedia technology is that present software is poor at quality. What’s more, teachers find it not convenient to use some courseware (software) developed by others. The main reason about this problem is that most physics multimedia software is not developed based on modern education and psychology theory, especially the theory about physics teaching. To solve these problems, the author studies the theory about how to design multimedia instruction software for physics teaching combining with those abovementioned theories. Also some practical researching based on Authorware 6.0 is discussed in this paper. And it will be helpful to accelerate physics teaching aided by computer.This article studies from the following parts: Part one analyzes the current situation and points out some problems existing in the physics teaching. Also, several instruction models are introduced. And the author proposes some problems to solve in the proceeding of software design according to the task of physics teaching. For example, it includes learning basic knowledge on physics and the methods to build up student’s ability and delivering physics methods, etc. Part two introduces the modern education and psychology theories, including the popular quality-oriented education and constructivism, etc. In order to make the abovementioned aims come true, this part points out software designer should build a significant scene for learners to learn and make them get knowledge on their own initiative, improve their ability, too. And some problems which designer should concern are discussed in this part. Part three, the center of this article, discusses the proceeding of how to designmultimedia software for physics teaching from the angle of theory and practice. In the angle of theory, it includes project analysis, instruction design and the structure of the whole software, etc. Of these contents, instruction design is the focal, which reflects the designer’s thoughts about physics teaching. And the requirement analysis tells reader how to choose the contents to design a courseware from the angle of instruction. In the angle of practice, this part discusses how to debug a multimedia program and publish courseware on the Internet as well as the valuing of instruction software. As a fruit of my study, I develop a multimedia courseware of senior physics, which is designed according to some theories that was stated above. In the end of this article makes a conclusion of my study, points out the shortages and makes a prospect of development about the study.
