The paper expounds several aspects of the world trade including its concept, its history, and influences on China’s foreign trade and economic development exerted by its current trend. It hence puts forward strategies and measures that should be taken in China’s foreign trade in the light of features in its foreign trade and economic development. As the basis of the paper, the first chapter briefly introduces the concept of the world trade, carries on an in-depth analysis of the natural and historical factors in the establishment of the world trade, clarifies its significant role and status to promote the world economy, and analyzes by synthesis the three necessities of the establishment of the world trade. The second chapter overlooks the trend in the development of the world trade on the basis of an exposition of variations and characteristics in the world trade, especially a survey of the background after the WW II, as well as a thorough study of the characteristics in contemporary world trade. It also points out the trend of sustainable growth in the world trade. The third chapter depicts the rapid development of the world trade and offers an in-depth analysis of the major causes in terms of five aspects including the growth in the world economy, negotiation on WTO, cooperation in regional economy and scientific and technological advances. Furthermore, it compares the patterns of economic growth in developed countries and most developing countries. It fully appraises the major influences on the world trade by WTO. The trend of regional and collective economy is also indicated. Meanwhile, it analyzes the vital role of technical advances in the promotion of the world trade. The fourth chapter explores the trend in contemporary world trade and suggests innovation as both the major trend and the most striking feature. This chapter also elaborates the essential points of world trade innovation in terms of six aspects like those in theory, pattern, system and structure. In the meantime, it sizes up the reasons and conditions of innovation as a major trend in the world trade. The fifth chapter analyzes the impacts on China’s foreign trade by the development of the world commodity market as well as challenges and opportunities that China is going to meet. It focuses the negative effects on China’s foreign trade by the changes in the world commodity market. The sixth chapter studies China’s choice of strategies in foreign trade from six aspects (to complete policies, enhance the technical content of the exports, take advantage of the rules stipulated by WTO, appropriately address the trade friction between China and US or countries from EC, and employ a variety of economic, political, and military means) based on the current situation in its commodity trade and the challenges and opportunities brought by the world trade in the light of the trend in the world trade. In conclusion, the paper carries out an in-depth study on the related theory in the world trade and contributing factors to its rapid development. It also integrates the economic theory <WP=38>with its practice in China’s economic development. It therefore puts forward innovation as the major trend in the world trade development and affords some visions for China’s foreign trade and economy.
