In order to meet the needs of the age and society, the paper puts forward the subjects of the comparison of Chinese reading strategies and English reading strategies in middle schools according to the new theories new ideas and new requirements of the new course standard of Chinese and English. The paper analyzes the reading essence and the common rules followed in Chinese teaching, as well as in English teaching in middle schools. Through the study and investigation, the paper reveals the position and meaning of reading strategies and the ways of carrying them out. The paper makes clear about the sameness and the difference between the two strategies and the mutual relationship of them from the aspects of Chinese and English courses Meanwhile it also analyses the choosing of Chmese and English reading materials and teacher’s action in the students’ reading..
