In the paper, analysis and explore has been made on electrical automation in large thermal power plant, the development of DCS system in power plant automation discussed. New technology development is brought about in power plant by using the Field bus and FCS. Protection and supervising of electrical system in power plant which includes auxiliary power system, substation transformer system and unit electrical section becomes technology focusing point. The main problemes and solutions of electrical automation based on the Field bus and network communication has been well explored, the technology of applying electrical automation system to DCS through communication and combining its function to that of DCS has been analyzed. Auxiliary power system is main part of electrical automation in power plant, the technology of protection and supervising of auxiliary power is a integrated technology which is includs sensor, measurement and control, protection, communication and supervising device condition. A new intelligence auxiliary power facility used to combine equipment itself to auxiliary protection and supervising devices is discussed in the paper, the new type intelligent integrated electro-mechanical facility will be the basic part of future electrical automation in power plant.
