Effects of Gratitude Educational Methods on Gratitude and Prosocial Behavior of Junior Middle School Students

Positive Psychology advocated with an open and appreciation vision to everyone, Emphasized psychologist should focus their attentions on positive force which ordinary people have. Not all positive forces work with any semblance of consciousness, Positive psychologists think that some of strength has become an automatic mechanism. Gratitude as an important realm of Positive Psychology,which is a stable emotional disposition. There are two major functions with it, namely the psychological and social function. The former refers to make individual mental function improved, while another function to motivate people reciprocal behavior and construct the social resources in the future.The purpose of this study is to improve individual gratitude tendency, and strive to make the positive force also become an automation psychological mechanism, which can motivate individual Prosocial behaviors. In this study, Participants were some students chosen from one middle school in Changchun. This research tries to test the changes of gratitude and Prosocial behaviors among three groups with Junior middle school students Gratitude Questionnaire and Prosocial Tendencies Measure by natural experimental method. Then, we intervened with the different skill among three groups. The combination of mental health class and counting blessing was one intervention skill, another one was the combination of mental health class and events condition, and this experiment compared didn’t make any other interventions ,only mental health class. The results showed that:Results in study indicated that the junior middle school student’s gratitude and Prosocial behaviors’intervention effect. The mental healthy on gratitude class can increase gratitude and Prosocial behaviors. The combination of the mental healthy on gratitude class and counting blessing can increase gratitude and Prosocial behaviors. The combination of the mental healthy on gratitude class and counting blessing is better than the mental healthy class; the former can improve more gratitude and Prosocial behaviors.
