Xu Kun is a well-known female writer in the literature field of China in 1990s. Her works are mainly about the life of intellectual and urban ladies. In Xu Kun’s writing, with the theme of female, she explores women’s confusion and struggle deeply encountered by living with men and expresses women choices individually but also of universal significance. This article aims to explore the history in which the concept for women in identifying their lives and positioning their roles is changing and deepening. Though exiting in a recessive way, the history can be found in all Xu Kun’s feminism works and it develops a clear sequence about female growth. In the fist part of natural historical evolution we can know the female growth history from novels which talks about reviewing female history, teenage girl love emotions, marriage and extramarital love. In the second part of women life she explores their difficult situation and struggle through two perspectives: love and friendship. In the third part she explores the growth of female life consciousness in literature on space aspect. Xu Kun conveys such a writing concept to readers through her novels: in modern life women’s destiny depends on their innerside world rather than material life or men. Xu Kun’s female consciousness, rebelling against overturn and pursuing spiritual and personal independence is the nature of post-modern. It also illustrates the intellectual’s independent, critical and self-examing consciousness.
