Research and Application of Product Structure and Configuration Management for Aircraft Cooperative Design

With the pricking up of the market competition, in order to compete successfully in the intense market competition, enterprises must shorten the product developing cycle constantly, improve the quality, reduce the cost and improve service. Collaborative design is a new way of product development which is put forward in current years, it takes into account every aspect of the product entire lifecycle at the early days of product design, reduces the unnecessary wasting time during the product development, shortens the product developing time consequently, improves the quality and enhances the competence of enterprises. It is of importance to the design of complicated mechanism. Airplane is a complicated mechanical system, at present, the serial design mode is widely used in the process of airplane design, so, if the collaborative design is introduced, the efficiency of airplane design will be improved.Product data management (PDM) is the information supportive environment for the realization of collaborative design, it manages all information and all process that linked with the product in the product lifecycle. Product structure and configuration management (PSCM) is an important part of PDM, it manages the basic attributes which relates to the components, subcomponents, part of product, and maintains their hierarchical relationship and relevant document.In this thesis, PSCM that supports collaborative design was researched as emphases. By the analysis of PDM products domestically and abroad and the absolutely necessary characteristics of PDM that supports collaborative design, a data model of PSCM was put forward and the class of product structure management and class of product configuration management were designed. The function of PSCM was accomplished. On this foundation, the integration of PSCM and CATIA was also researched. A three-layer Client/Service architecture was adopted by analysis, and the function integration was completed by way of ICE and Hibernate. In the end, the integrated system was applied in the collaborative design of airplane with a fine effect.
