As the process of products development in the cooperative environment is a complex engineering system,it is really important to build product development process model, which can give an instruction to real production and make sure the whole working procedure working smoothly and successfully.However, every useful model comes from practice and simulation. So, the choice on modeling methods is simply in the view of improving mechanical products development.A thoroughly research on the characteristics of the modern product development process is made firstly. The method based on UML activity diagram and Petri net is presented in the view of navigation for the whole procedure and decision making in the part. First, an UML activity diagram is given to describe the whole process. A useful discussion on the connection between the process model and its derived diagrams is made. Then, a detailed model and analyse for local part based on Petri Net is also given.Process models would be useless if it is not easy and convenient for engineers to put it into practice. As the integrated product process model is the toughest and the most important work, a detailed research on the development of integrated environment based on Web and CORBA is made in the view of process integration and convenient practice. Base on this system, an application on electrical products development process is given. Finally, a direction on how to extend the system is presented.
