With the rapid evolution of information technology, the application of computer software products has prevailed in all aspects of our social life and becomes more and more huge in scale. However there is no perfect software and the existence of defect is an inevitable attribute of software. The reason which causes the software defect are software complexity, software development tool and the human error and so on. As a necessary mean for software quality assurance, software testing has become more and more concerned than ever.Based on the basic concepts and basic models of software testing, the usual test processes , steps and test technology are discussed in this paper. For the inefficient question appears which in the view of traditional manual testing and in the defect management process, an improved method—Automatic Testing and Defect Tract Management is proposed.The defect track management is an important method to enhance the software test working efficiency. But many companies lack to the defect management. Even if they carry on the documents to the defect management, they still feel very difficult to solve the flaw life cycle control and management. Using the test theory and defect track management theory, in this thesis, a practical examples is given which utilized the automatic testing tool and the test management tool. Through the example, the improvement process of the software test method and the defect track management, as well as the tools used are discussed.
