The Analysis of Travel Behavior Features of Retired University Faculty

Since 1999 China has entered aging society, the aging trend was evident, and aging tourism market potential is tremendous. Retired university faculty is a special old group, with enough time, good economy, high cultural level, strong sense of organization, and good social security, they are becoming a huge potential tourism market. However, few tourism merchandise product for retired university faculty at present. While in literature field, this potential tourism market segment receives no concern from the academic world, and research on relative travel behavior and market development is almost blank.Taking Fujian Normal University as an example, researching the retired university faculty, guided by related theories such as gerontology, tourist behaviors, tourism geography, tourism marketing, tourism security, through literature, questionnaire survey, depth interview, mathematical statistics, the article investigated four aspects including the travel behavior, travel attitude, tourist motivation, tourism decision, tourism consumption, tourism evaluation, in order to do a systemic research on the travel behavior of the object. The results show that the retired university faculty have higher education levels, have better income, and they also have stronger travelling intention. They prefer landscapes, historic interest and so on. Security and health is the most important issue on travelling. By empirical analysis, the article summarizes the general travel behavior rule of the retired university faculty. On this basis, the article presented suggestions of the development of tourist market of the retired university faculty, such as reinforcing government supporting, strengthenning nichetargeting travel services, fully exploiting travel culture connotation, and safeguarding senior tourism security.This research enriched the senior tourism empirical research, provided policies for related tourism departments and enterprises to formulate relevant tourism and products marketing.
