With the rapid development of semiconductor technology , Field Programmable Gate Array(FPGA) can meet the level of a system design, a scheme of system on chip base on FPGA has much advantage, such as save developing cost and time, hardware and software re-programmable, flexible, reducible, expandable, upgradable etc. Because of these, it has been adopted in many areas such as communication , industry control, ect.The flow of SOPC system design, which is based on the Microblaze embedded soft core processor , developing by xilinx corporation ,has been researched in this paper, including hardware design , software design and HW/SW Co-simulation.Firstly, several important concepts as SOC, SOPC and IP core in system design are interpreted, and the internal relationship of them are given;secondly, the architecture and design flow of FPGA ,the chief technology of system design and two of system implement methods are analyzed in detail;thirdly, introduce the characteristics of several common embedded microprocessors and on chip buses which are often used for SOPC system design. describe the usage of EDK(Embedded Development Kit)in detail. Take the PWM module for example to show the integrate process of the user IP core, and the result of simulation is given. In chapter four, an infrared camera system design base on SOPC is introduced in detail, including embedded the processor into FPGA, HW/SW Co-design and Co-simulation, the results of system simulation and debug are given.At the end, a summing up of this article is given and the prospect for future researches is put forward.
