Survey and Study of Current Situation on Sports Awareness and Behaviour of College Students in Eastern Area of Inner Mongolia

With the swift development of social economy and the increasing proportion of mechanization and automation in the daily life, the physical labor is being gradually substituted by mental labor. However, more and more problems come to arise when people are enjoying achievements brought by social progress. Among them, healthy problem receives common attention. It is widely accepted that sports do good to people’s health. Belonging to different social groups, the differences in cultural contexts, values and living environments lead to the variety in sports awareness and behavior. College students, as a part of social group, have their own characteristics. There exist differences among the sports awareness and behavior of college students in terms of times, regions as well as nationalities.This study, with college students in eastern area of Inner Mongolia as the research object, through the methods of documentary data, questionnaire, mathematical statistics and logical analysis, analyzed at length the influential factors of college students’sports awareness and behavior in eastern area of Inner Mongolia, and put forward some reasonable suggestions regarding those existing problems. It might help college students set up positive sports values and form proper sports behavioral pattern, promote sports’role on boosting college students’healthy development, educate college students to be long-life sportsmen, and further offer useful inference to macro management and supervision of college students’sports life and college sports reform in minority nationality regions.Through the investigation and analysis on college students’sports awareness and behavior in eastern area of Inner Mongolia, some findings were derived as follows: First, differences exist in college students’sports awareness in eastern area of Inner Mongolia in terms of attitudes, motivation and values, because of different grades and genders. There are significant differences in sports attitudes between the first-year students and the second-year and third-year students, so are the students in different genders.Second, differences exist in college students’sports behavior in eastern area of Inner Mongolia in terms of sporting events, participation frequency and participation mode. There are significant differences in participation frequency between higher grade students and lower grade students. Significant differences also exists in the students of different genders in terms of the selection of sports items.
