Along with the development of communication technology, software has become the primary part of communication system. The software testing is the only way to improve the quality of communication software. As the focus of modern communication technology, SoftSwitch represents the direction of the development of NGN, and is a good point to research into communication software testing.Introduces the measurement of software and the test process, it points out that testing not only pays attention to software quality, but also testing quality. ISO model gives detail description of common software quality. The author concludes five aspects of communication software quality, based on the ISO model and the characteristic of SoftSwitch system. The five aspects are: basic function, coherence, service, management, capability. The paper also gives four guidelines to the measurement of testing process: DDP, DFP, reliability, integrality.Analyzes the routine test strategy of communication software, according to both length and breadth aspect. Firstly, it divides the process of communication software test into unit test, integrated test, system test, acceptance test according to V model, applying it to the SoftSwitch system. Secondly, it analyzes the software test based on five aspects of communication software quality. Analyze the method to test function, coherence, service, management, capability, divided by target of test. Then, combine with the example of handover in SoftSwitch system, according to the process of request analysis, request classification, case specification, case description, author designs a set of test cases, then count the number of errors and analyze the test result with DDP.Introduces automation test of communication software. It introduces the test process automation and the test result analysis automation. For the example of handover test, author also gives automation test solution. Ultimately, author discusses when to use routine test and when to use automation test in application.
