Facing the great gap between the rich and the poor and the increasing social problems, we find it very important theoretically and practically to study Deng Xiaoping’s Theory of common prosperity. There exist mainly three sources which the Deng Xiaoping’s theory of common prosperity has. The influence of Chinese traditional thinking, the experience and lesson gained by Mao Zedong in the early economic development, the scientific socialism theory and practice gained by Marx, Angels, Lenin, Stalin, and other proletarian revolutionaries, have become the main source of Deng Xiaoping’s Theory of common prosperity. Two aspects are on the background of the formation of the Deng Xiaoping’s theory of common prosperity. First, all countries world widely, citing for the trend of the times, are taking the peaceful period to develop their national economy. Second, solving the current major contradictions and the social conflicts in China need develop vigorously the economy and take the road of common prosperity. The contents of Deng Xiaoping’s Theory of common prosperity are one of the keys, which are expressed in the relations between the common prosperity and the socialism, the shortcut and keys, the material foundation and political guarantees, to make the common prosperity true. The common prosperity is the essential requirement and the ultimate goal, which the socialism claims. That making a minority of people rich firstly, then the rich men help the rest to achieve the common prosperity is the shortcut to realize the common prosperity. Making farmers rich is the key to get the common prosperity. Highly developed productive forces and the four cardinal principles are the material foundation and the political guarantees to realize the goal of the common prosperity. To achieve the common prosperity must properly settle the current problem of the increasing gap between the rich and the poor. The current inequality in wealth in China is mainly demonstrated not only between urban areas and rural areas but also between different regions, different industries. The reasons for this unfavorable situation are very complicated, which can briefly be summed up as follows:the historical factors, such as the imbalance of the productive forces, the existence of the dual economic structure of urban-rural, the differences of natures, religions and traffics, and the real reasons, such as the state’s policies and the human factors, that have contributed to this unfavorable situation in China. The measures are provided from macro factors and the specific asp acts. In order to solve the economy gap between the rich and the poor, the Government has many obligations to accomplish: to make the economy develop sustained and coordinated to provide a solid material foundation for the common prosperity, to ensure the dominant position of public ownership and the work-based distribution system to provide system foundation for the common prosperity, and to regulate distribution inequality to attach more importance to social fairness. We should take the targeted and concrete measures, according to the different reasons of the gaps between urban areas and rural areas, different regions, different industries.
