“World-wide”and“nation-wide”are two factors which are paradoxical and uniform. At the present time with economic globalization and cultural blend, what we should consider is not only the way in which we can lead the national things to the world but also the method with which we can merge the global things with national ones. It becomes the urgent matter in Chinese designing industry that how the Chinese designs catch up with the western ones in order to establish the own modern designing culture. Minimalism is the popular designing style in current international designing circles while the native designing is also on the way of simplism. However, the further theoretic research would focus on such issues including how to merge the western minimalism with our traditional simplism harmoniously so as to form our own designing ideas, and etc. In term of design, contemporary Chinese designers take the western standards of designing values as their orientations so that there are a lot of people who are blindly pursuing and obviously imitating the western designs. As a result, for the purpose of establishing Chinese designing culture indeed, it is necessary to do the research on both the traditional and modern aspects so as to certify our own designing ideas. In this paper, the author tried to sorting out the history of minimalism in term of globalization by using literature-selecting, logic-analyzing and comparison-demonstrating methods, the content of which will include the rebellion to classicalism from modernism in the simple ways, the anti-modernism from postmodernism in the way of accumulation and deconstruction and the amendment of postmodernism by nowadays minimalism in the simple ways. Meanwhile, this article analyzes the acceptable context in the contemporary China including the inevitability of realistic context and the probability of historical context.This article emphasizes the comprehensive and detailed comparison of Chinese and Western simplism from the aspects of abstract and concrete ways, including the differences of harmony value, the formations in modes of thinking and the inducible distinctions in the aesthetic appreciations of simplism.Finally, under the method of defamiliarization, we combined the Chinese traditional beauty with the western minimalism design and analyzed the cases designed by Jin Daiqiang,the great master of designing in Hong Kong,in order to form the designing value of Chinese new minimalism by well digesting the Chinese traditional best features and western minimalism. Among all, the comparison and the future of Chinese new minimalism are both the focal and innovative points in this essay, which can be the new exploration on the nationalizing way of the minimalism design.
