Applied Research of Video Encoding System Based on H.264/AVC Standard

With the progress of the multimedia and networking technology in recent years, video-based multimedia communications have become the theme of this age and being concerned by more and more people. It’s necessary to compress huge data because of the limitation of memory space and transfers bandwidth. An emerging video coding standard named H.264/AVC or MPEG-4 part 10 aims at coding video sequences at approximately half of the bit rate compared to MPEG-2 at the same quality. It also aims at having significant improvements in coding efficiency, error robustness and nerwork friendliness and represents the future of video compression standards. Embedded system is the popular research subjects of the computer, which is the platform of the H.264/AVC coding system. Blackfin533 is the new multimedia chip for the H.264/AVC and MPEG-4. Hence, the research of the combination of the H.264/AVC and embedded system based on the Blackfin533 is important for the application of H.264/AVC.The author’s study mainly focus on the embedded application of H.264/AVC endcoder based on Blackfin533.First, the author learns the basic thought and theory, analyzes the detail of the standard. Second, the author learns the structure, the bus, the management of memory of the processor Blackfin533, studies the instruction and the video instruction of the Blackfin533. Based on evaluation system ADSP-BF533 EZ-KIT lite, an embedded video capturing and encoding teminal in designed and proposed. By analyzing the theory of the video coding system, the author gives the program to initializing the system. The open source of the H.264/AVC video coding algorithm is transplanted into the Blackfin533 and optimization of the code is implemented by the traits of the Blackfin533.The H.264/AVC video coding system studied in this paper can be widely applied to video controlling, information household appliances, intellectual district, remote meter reading etc. The embedded video terminal equipment can be applied to more widely field after further development and perfecting.
