An accurate understanding about the aerodynamic characteristics of wind turbine blades can offer guidance on the design of wind turbine. NUMECA software,as a CFD software, was used to simulate and research aerodynamic performance of aerofoil, blade and whole machine of wind turbine in this paper.Built calculate model of three airfoils of blade with different thickness, and used NUMECA to numerical simulate the model, by analyzing lift coefficient, drag coefficient, lift drag ratio, airfoil aerodynamic pressure and flow streamline graph, and pressure coefficient distribution map etc, researched the aerodynamic characteristics of these three airfoil with different relative thickness.Built 3D blade model in Unigraphics NX, used NUMECA to simulate the model. By discussing limiting streamlines on wind turbine blade suction surface, comparing of flowing around the section of 3D blade and 2D airfoil, the pressure coefficient of the same section under various speed of wind flow in different conditions, loading distributions along the direction of the span wise, and changing Setting angle of blade effecting on the power output. Summarized the aerodynamic performance of wind turbine blades.Built 3D unit of wind turbine model in Unigraphics NX, and simulated the model. Analyzed load distribution along the rotor blade; the pressure coefficient under different sections with the same wind speed and the loading distributions of the rotor blade, 3D flow, static pressure distributions and 2D velocity vector of different sections in the z-direction.In this paper, researches would understand the aerodynamic performance and character of airfoil, blade, and unit of wind turbine; approved the feasibility and reliability to aerodynamic numerical simulation of wind turbine; understanded the unit running performance and trail flow character. the paper’s conclusions would supply technology parameter and advice to the design and installation of unit.
