Return to Innocence-Feng Zikai’s Ideas of Children Culture and Implication in Curriculum Theory

Generally, the fields of educational theory and practice currently interest in a topic: How to deal with the phenomenon about disappearance of childhood resulting from the crisis of children culture. The academia of curriculum has responded positively to it. However, according to the established achievements, scholars usually ignored to comb ideas and practical heritage of children culture. It means that, the way of thinking to richen school curriculum and educational theory from a perspective of history of thought has not been taken seriously.This paper choose a scholar of culture in the May 4th period-Feng zikai as an objective of study. This choice depends on the following reasons:1.Feng zikai had a strong awareness of children idol.2.He created numerous works on children culture (Cartoon, Children literature).3.His special theory of innocence equals child’s simplicity to inspiration of art.4.He evolved a plan of all-round arts education from his idea to protect child’s simplicity in order to fulfill the ideal that return to innocence.This paper will carry out the theme study with the following steps: Firstly, to find out the cultural origin and nature of the theory of innocence by inspecting Feng zikai’s biography. Secondly, to verify the core of his ideas about children culture by reading and analyzing his literature and art works. Lastly, to analyze the all-round arts education and practical curriculum to protect the innocence by understanding his theory about child’s simplicity and inspiration of art.The purposes of this study are:1.To provide a valuable resources of curriculum and practical model for the current curriculum reform of elementary education. Ancestor Feng zikai’s educational ideal and curriculum practice about returning to innocence are typical references.2.To give a helpful enlightenment and aid for the development of child-based curriculum as well as to solve the serious problems resulting from the crisis of children culture in education.
