Research on Performances of HEPA Filters and the Test System

Modern industrial development requires higher and higher quality of experimental, research and production environment. The main way to realize this requirement is the extensive use of air filters in clean air-conditioning system where the high-efficient(HEPA) and ultra-efficient (ULPA) filters are the last line to defend dust particles to enter the clean room, its good and bad function is directly related to the clean room class, thereby affecting the production process and product quality.HEPA filter test system is the core platform to study the performance of HEPA filters. Therefore the establishment and improvement of a test platform is of great importance for research on performances of HEPA filters.In this paper, on the basis of the experiments and literature, the clean room for HEPA filter test system has been designed and constructed and test device has been improved. After analyzing the performances of HEPA filters and test methods, the experimental program has been put forward.The filtration performance and resistance performance of PTFE HEPA filters and glass fiber HEPA filters are tested and studied in detail,and the main parameters have been compared.It has been studied the effect of pleat distance on resistance of different filters in the experiment, thus giving the optimal pleat distance. At last the filtration performance and resistance performance of PTFE filter paper and glass fiber filter paper are compared. A life prediction model for filter paper has been established based on the experiments and research of literature, and has been put into practice.
