Mental health service is the crucial factor in the development of college education and is important to improve students’ integrated development. It is of significance to promote the mental health of college students and contribute to the construction of harmonious society. However, it would affect each work thorough development because of the unbalanced condition and few scientific system of domestic mental health service system. As the most developed province in South china, Guangdong offered mental health services earlier in China and propel the work in other areas by his advanced experience. This study is based on Guangdong province and explores the comprehensive mental health service system in Guangdong including the historic condition, present state, character, introspection and raising countermeasures in order to improve the mental health service system in domestic universities and promote the sound development of university students’mental health.To build a mental health service system of scientific, efficient and being laid the great stress on the serving quality, firstly we should know about the practical condition of university student. So based on some relevant documents, this study defines mental health service system in university as a service activity of taking the demands of healthy mental growth of university students as the orientation, using the psychological knowledge and techniques to cater for college students’ healthy growth in mental health, and promoting the harmonious developments of college students’mental health in direct or indirect ways. At the same time, it is also defined as a system that in institutions of higher education, professional institutions and personnel take the requirements of college students’mental health services as the orientation, follow the rules of college students’mental health development, promote the psychological health of the whole populations in universities, which is composed of investment, education and training, supervision and administration. The whole study includes five parts and seven series in the following sequence:literature review, questions and research ideas, research on psychological health of college students in Guangdong and their demands for the services, studies on college mental health services system in the coastal areas, and general discussion and conclusion.To known about to demand of mental health service in the universities of Guangdong, study 1 is mainly to draw up a questionnaire about college students’ demands of mental health, which was finally set up based on the former exportations, the reliability and validity of it and revised to the former questionnaire. The reliability and validity of the inventory are satisfactory and it can be used as a criterion to measure the degree of mental health service. Based on the questionnaire in study 1, study 2 deliberates the characters and influencing factors of college students’ mental health in Guangdong. Based on study 2, study 3 constructs the fundamental dimension of college mental health services system in Guangdong. By the method of Research and Interview, study 3 revise the system of mental health system and examine the reliability and validity of the questionnaire and all the indicators satisfy the Psychological Testing. Study 4, study 5 and 6 are based on the questionnaire in study 3. respectively researches on the management and supervision system, the construction of the service team and the deficiency of technology system. In this study, the Symptom Checklist 90 (SCL-90) is applied to measure the mental health service system in Guangdong. All of the discussions are based on the advanced study, and generalize the achievement, discover the deficiency and put forward suggestions to the mental health service system. It will give lesson to the further development of mental health service system in Guangdong as well as in other provinces. The seven series of studies above lead to the following main conclusions:(1) The questionnaire includes four dimensions:the demand for high quality, professional service troop, how to service and what to service of mental health services. Generally speaking, students call for more services in all the four dimensions, especially in services of high quality. Among the demographics variables of college students, although the gender has little to do with the mental health, grade and school types are the factors which have notable effects on the needs of college students’mental health services. (p<0.001)(2) Among those factors which affect mental health service, Demographic variables, mental health and mental health services awareness can predict the demand for mental health services. Students from different places and grades have notable differences of mental health level (p< 0.001). Mental health, the cognition of mental health service and the needs of it were significantly related. For college students, the needs for mental health services are proportional to the level of their mental health, and marks of SCL-90 are a significant positive predicator of their mental health. College students who are active in the learning of professional mental health services and favorable accounts of professional staff are more likely to take the initiative to seek mental health services.(3) Mental health services system of Guangdong universities is composed of management and supervision, the construction of the service team, and technology system three parts. The service system respectively corresponds to three levels of the demand for mental health services. Management and supervision corresponds to the demand for services of high quality; the construction of the service team corresponds to the demand for services teams; technology system corresponds to the needs of content and form of services.(4)The universities in Guangdong which are involved in the survey have achieved remarkable accomplishments and formed distinctive character. They can be specifically manifested in supervisions, the construction of the service team, and technology system. The supervision system field was practiced on soft Management based on professional associations, explored the Three levels of management and supervision model in Guangdong universities’mental health services, combine the supervision and the introspection, made clear the thread on the whole work starting with the supervision and inspection, associated with school, hospital and home, explored the cooperation with the external world. In the perspective of team building, basically speaking, Guangdong has establish professionally and partly work team to service college students and it realize the professional. As to the perspective of technological system, the form and the scope of mental service have been extended and the quality of services has been improved. Linking work at selected spots with that in entire areas contributes to the mental health services of Guangdong. Services ideal has been changed and mutual aid program between students and teachers have been throughout spread; the awareness of safety has been strengthen; and "Three-Pre" project have been carried out. Generally speaking, these have brought good effect. Mental health service level in Guangdong is relatively high; students are quite satisfied with the services and take a positive part in it and prevalence rate and awareness rate are high, the rate of psychological crisis intervention and referral rates also high. The work of mental health services has got widespread praise among society, government and educational institution.(5) However, some problems still exist in the work of mental health systems. There are large differences in different level schools and the developments are imbalanced. Problems also show up in narrow channels in collecting money, without sufficient service institutions and professional teachers, monotonous ways in solving mental health problems, serious neglect of the mental health problem of teachers, postgraduates and psychotherapists.(6) The Strategies to establish the mental health service system in the universities of Guangdong including:to narrow the gap between deferent levels of schools, to make full use of the main force, to build up a team in both professional and unprofessional perspectives, to bring the main role into a higher place, to set the courses about metal heath with certain purpose, to care more about the mental health of the staff and to strengthen the cooperation with the external system.(7) Mental health service system in the universities in Guangdong plays a guidance part in universities in other places.Firstly, the key is that leaders should attaches importance to it. Secondly, take advantages of integrating internal and external resources to care for students’ mental health. The system of combines school, hospital and home and the mutual aid program between students and teachers have effects of demonstration..Thirdly, as to the team building, it asks for special training for employees, carrying out regular supervision, and caring about the practical problem. Technologically speaking, it demands for concerning about the mental health of postgraduate and staff as well as broadening the scope of college mental health services.There is theoretical and methodological innovation in this study. Theoretically, this study links work at the demand of students with mental health service system, enrich and enhance the content of mental health service system of the university. The study firstly prepared for the questionnaire based on demand for mental health services in the universities of Guangdong, and then constructs the idea of mental health service system and finally validates the reliability and validity of the inventory. In addition, this study is the first one that systematically focuses on mental health service system of the universities of Guangdong, which is a supplement to the construction of domestic mental health service and may explore a new significant direction. Methodologically, this study attempts to adopt the thread of integrating the qualitative research and quantitative research, using various methods such as literature, interview and questionnaire to probe into the questions in multi-angle and multi-level, which may promote the pluralism and integration of the study on mental health service system. The main method in this study is survey method and most of the test tools are questionnaire consisting of self-report. Self-report scale may have questions in measuring such as the deviation of the result, evaluation anxiety and social reinforcement effect. The method of combining assessment and self-assessment and the method of Interference experiment could be used in the subsequent studies and these, therefore, provide the further work of mental health services with experience and threads.
