Objective:To explore the clinical significance of detecting the serum Tau protein and Aβ1-42 in patient with chronic alcoholism and investigate the mechanism of learning and memory disorder induced by alcoholism.Methods:40 patients with chronic alcoholism and 16 healthy controls were selected. All the patients had the history of drinking more than 5years, and they were divided into 5-20years group and more than 20 years group. According to CT, the patients were divided into encephalatrophy group and normal group. ELISA was used to measure serum Tau protein and Aβ1-42.Results:1. The serum Tau protein in patient with chronic alcoholism was higher than that of control group. But there were no significance.2. The serum Tau protein in patient with encephalatrophy group (was significantly higher than that of CT normal group and control group (P<0.05). And there were no difference between CT normal group and control group.3. The serum Tau protein in driking more than 20 years group was significantly higher than that of 5-20 years group and control group (P<0.05). And there were no difference between 5-20 years group and control group.4. The serum Aβ1-42 in patient with chronic alcoholism was significantly higher than that of control group.5. The serum Aβ1-42 in encephalatrophy group and CT normal group were significantly higher than that of control group (P<0.01). There were no difference between encephalatrophy groupand CT normal group.6. The serum Aβ1-42 in driking more than 20 years group and 5-20 years group were significantly higher than that of control group (P<0.01). There were no difference between driking more than 20 years group and 5-20 years group.Conclusion:1.The serum Tau protein and Aβ1-42 level may be a potential biomarker for chronic alcoholism.2. Serum Tau protein and Aβ1-42 may be involved in Neurological damage induced by alcoholism. And serum Tau protein may be related with the degree of brain damage.
