With the continuous improvement of the national production level, and the technology development of the microelectronics, computer, communication and so on, the video image capture technology has been developed rapidly, meanwhile it has been applied to national defense, entertainment, security, machine vision and other fields. The research of the video surveillance system has important social significance for improving the safety of persons and property. It has been continuously expanded with the improvement of video technology.Because the video surveillance system of wired Network lacks of mobility, and it doesn’t have practical applications in some fields which must be used wireless monitoring technology, such as vehicle monitoring, field industrial site, etc. So it needs to use the wireless monitoring technology to fill the blank of the application fields. At presend, most of wireless video surveillance systems use GPRS, CDMA communication technology. The quality of the images and the transmission delay of the system is not satisfied because of the technical limit such as channel bandwidth. The the appearance of the 3G (The third generation mobile communication technology) improves the connection between the video surveillance and the mobile communications, which brings new opportunity for the technology of wireless video surveillance system and improves the technology of GPRS, CDMA Video.This article takes a long-distance well monitoring system as the technical background to design a site for industrial video capture. The platform uses the ARM+DSP technology as proceccing core to take the image compression and broaden interfaces of the peripheral connection. DSP is mainly used in the video compression, and ARM is used in the secondary compression of communication channel and external sensors. This platform also has USB, the PCMCIA connection,8 channel compound video input connection, which meets to the USB and PCMCIA connection and 3G wireless network card. The platform mainly uses the embedded Linux operating system, which makes that the network protocol stack accesses to the Ethernet easily. The paper finally achieves the hardware design of the platform and the transplantation of the embedded Linux operating system. The experiment uses the WCDMA network card with USB interface and PPP protocol to connect the Ethernet. And terminal system programes the data collection procedures which is based the C/S model with VC++6.0. The testing shows that the platform has achieved 8-channel video capturing, compression and the collect of sensors by using time division multiplex.The video surveillance system of the subject based embedded technology, has advantages in multiport of sensor interface, low-power, high reliability and so on, which is suitable for industrial applications. After a second development, it could be applied other wireless monitoring occasions easily, which has good economic significance.
