In this dissertation, the development of the diffractive optics and hybrid optics are described in detail, we have systematically analyzed and studied the design theory of the infrared hybrid optical system (IHOS), especially the deep research on the features of the IHOS and the main test techniquesFirstly, according to the characteristics of the diffractive optical element (DOE) of the IHOS, we concluded the existed DOE models and studied the vector diffractive model, the scalar diffractive model and also the geometric optical model, studied their range of fit respectively. Based on the comparison of the above models, we gave a detail analysis of the diffractive efficiency. The computing of the diffractive efficiency is conducted by adopting different algorithms. The influence of the introduction of the DOE into the optical system and the broad band DOE in IHOS are studied. A comprehensive analysis is conducted for the factors that affect the diffractive efficiency of the DOE.Secondly, in this paper the characteristics of the modern infrared optical system are reviewed. We analyzed the related designing theory of the modern infrared system according to the IHOS theory and its manufacturing techniques. Therefore, the design and manufacturing of the IHOS are implemented. Meanwhile, the performance of the IHOS is discussed, the diffractive efficiency of DOE, the variation of the environment temperature, and the scattering light are also discussed.Finally, the testing techniques of the IHOS are studied, based on the currently existed testing methods, combining the specific features of the IHOS, we setup the testing theory of the IHOS, and completed an infrared hybrid optical testing system, which leads to a research on the performance of the IHOS. Among these researches, the testing result of the MTF and the spot diagram is comparative to the imported apparatus, while the testing of the other parameters such as diffractive efficiency and the cold stop efficiency, which have not been reported before.
