Clinical Observation of Treatment with Massage on Cervical Spondylotic Myclopathy and the Experimental Studies of Compression of Spinal Cord in SD Rats

Objective:To observe the effectiveness of manuever therapy for the patient with cervical spondylotic myclopathy (CSM). Methods:50 cases (males 27,famale23 )with a range from 29 to 68 years was seleted in Out Patient Department of Hospital Wangjing and Hospital of Orthopedics and truamatology from 2002.12-2005.05.Cervical Radiograps and MRI were taken by purpose of AD and HD measurement before and after the treatment session. ET analysis was observed to encouter the level of contain- minant. And JOA index was measued to observe the improvement of symptoms and signs in pre and post treatment. All compared cases was statitiscally analysis with no significant discrepancy (P > 0.05) in sex, age and history.Results:1 .Clinical improvements :The improvement of leg paralysis CSM obvious in symptoms and signs (P < 0. 01).The result show the control rate was 14%, obvious effect rate was 44%, effect rate was 32%, and gross effect rate was90% respectively.2. Radiology analysis: Radiographic measurements show good improvement in C4-5 AD (pre:9.15±4.17 and post:6.92±2.64), and HD (pre 2.16 + 1.02, post: 1.66 ± 0.19).The two mea -surements was significant discrepancy. (P < 0.05) before and after the treatment session.3.MRI measuremant: To measure cervical disk herniation under MRI,and realize of herniated disk and tissue in vertebral canal .That injure of spinal cord cound not recover after massage and herniated disk unreturnable.4. ET analysis: Level of ET improved obviously after the therapy with a significant discrepancy P<0.05). This implied that thetherapy could regulate sympathetic nerve excitement.Conclusion:Manuever therapy is effective in the treatment of CSM.Part II: The experimental study of spinal cord compression in SD rat model.Objective:To establish an animal model of chronic lesion in cervical spinal cord compression by using SD rats. Methods:All research SD rats were averagely was averag weighted in 150g. Feeding time was in 6 weeks. Spinal cord compression model was applied by using silicon gel particle (4mmx2mmx 1mm) through C5.6 dorsal bodies in SD rats. The model obsvervation including functional activitis, histopathology and pathology of the low limbs. Evaluation of cell apoptosis and gene expression was obsevered after the model established.cervical spinal cord injury in rats. Results :The number of SOD in A group and B group was less than C group (P<0.05) At the 12 h after SCI, activity of SOD decreased significantly in rat spinal cord tissue in A group. And go down to the lest at 1st .after that, activity of SOD increased gradually. B group is as same as A groue in one week. The activity of SOD in A and B groups was higher than that in C group (P<0.05), and was near to C group at 4th week.Comparing with C group, the content of MDA in A and B groups significantly increased (P<0.05) at the 12h after SCI, activity of MDA was significantly increased in rat spinal cord tissue in A group.And go up to the top at 1st week .after that, activity of MDA decreased gradually. The content of MDA A group and C group is similar at 4th week5.Experimental study on gene expression related to the apoptosis aftercompression of cervical spinal cord injury in rats.Results:Comparing with C group, the the number of bcl-2-possitive neuron increased obviously in all injured groups at the any points of postinjury (P< 0.05) .The number of bcl-2-positive neuron in A group was the least at 2th week of postinjury,and continue to keep similar level at the other points; The number of bcl-2-positive neuron was higher in A group and B group than C groups at the other points of postinjury, and it showed that the secondary spinal cord injury was worse than other groups;Comparing with C group, the number of Bax-positive in all injured groups at the any points of postinjury (P< 0.05).neuron was increased in A and B groups and it was different between at 2rd week of postinjury. Bax-positive neuron of all injured groups became similar with each other, however the number of them was higher than that in C group (P< 0.05).cervical spinal cord injury in rats. The present study provides a basic theories for the principle of earlier decompression in the diagnosis and treatment of CSM.
