In the 21st Century Chinese tourism will enter the period of high-speed development。In face of this situation, how to grasp the commercial opportunity has become a critical problem. With the continual progress of Chinese tourism and the gradual improvement of tourism infrastructure including housing, transport, tour and entertainment, Chinese tourism must strengthen its weak links in order to pursue more economic benefit. As the most elastic consumption of tourism, the tourism shopping industry has become new hotspot and its basis consists in the development of tourist commodities.As domestic and foreign tourists’first impressions of tourist commodities, packing has a bearing on tourist commodity image, promotes tourist commodity sales, spreads sightseeing place cultures and therefore plays an important role of the development of tourist commodities. This paper makes a comparison between Chinese and Japanese tourist food packing and makes an analysis of the advantage and disadvantage of Chinese and Japanese tourist food packing design from two aspects: tour food packing features and design elements. This paper sums up the differences of Chinese and Japanese tourist food packing design, manages to learn from the successful packing experience and promotes the development of Chinese tourist commodity packing to match up to the requirements of tourist commodity packing design and the taste of tourists from both home and abroad in order to improve the competitiveness of Chinese tourist commodities.
