In recent years, with the phenomenon of poor college students’derivative and development, which has become a social issue of common concern, governments and research scholars have given it high priority.As a large-scale special groups, poor college students have their own unique thinking and behavior performance. Poor college students in terms of thinking and behavior demonstrate by the new characteristics and new situations, which become a new topic that Ideological and Political Education Workers must face. Strengthening poor college students’ideological and political education relates to poor college students’healthy growth and overall development, relates to the effect of ideological and political education as well as goals of College Education, relates to social harmony and stability as well as the development of socialist modernization.This article regarding the ideological and political education of poor college students as a research object, turning to the spiritual world of poor college students, with the goal "improve the overall quality and achieve sustainable development",concernes about their development opportunities, viability, survival and quality of life, promote the achievement of their overall development in the cognitive, affective, thought, personality and other aspects. The ultimate goal is to promote the integration of poor college students to social progress and development ,at the same time themselves can be free and comprehensive development.This article consists of four parts, which are outlined below.PartⅠ: the status of poor college students. This part describes the concept of poor college students’define and scale, analyzes the situation thinking and behavior from the ideological, psychological, ability, academic and employment careers and other aspects of poor college students, provides basic theory for further research and material.PartⅡ: the principle of poor college students’ideological and political education. For poor college students’thinking and behavior characteristics, this part proposes the principle of poor college students’ideological and political education,which are "student education " principle, targeted principle and the "full education " principle.PartⅢ: the content of poor college students’ideological and political education. This part analyzes the content of poor college students’ideological and political education from ideological education, mental health education, capacity-building and career guidance, etc.PartⅣ: the appropriate way to poor college students’ideological and political education. This part discusses the appropriate way to poor college students’ideological and political education, from establishment of the Archives of poor students, enhance the educational function of multiple financial aid system, deepen the work-study mechanism of help and education organization to play a role in caucus, the establishment of self-help groups and the poor college students to form school, community and family education efforts and so on.
