Establishment of the Quaternary3D Model and Analysis in Nantong City

By using the borehole data of the study area, this paper did some research workabout stratigraphic classification and database establishment, and used some relevantsoftwares to create three-dimensional model of the Quaternary stratigraphy of thisstudy area, combined with the results of previous studies in the region, the mainconclusions are as following:(1) According to the lithology, sedimentary facies, age data, and palynologicalassemblages, the study area’s Quaternary can be divided into the East group ofHolocene, the Upper Gehu group, the Kunshan group, Central Qidong group, thelower part of Haimen, the dating of the group, and Pliocene Yancheng group. Drillingcontrolled data and pollen assemblage divided the boundaries between Qh and Qp3.(2) Dividing and comparing the Quaternary stratigraphic of this area in details, theQuaternary of the target area is complete, no obvious sequence differences betweennorthern strata, the deposition layer is not thick, showing the high landscape. Southernstrata was relatively less stable, there are obvious differences in the early Pleistoceneand middle Pleistocene strata. Gradually, with the sedimentary filling effect, thedifference is getting smaller, the late Pleistocene and Holocene stratum performedstable.(3) Through the research and analysis of the status, collected and analysed nearly100borehole data in the target area, then constructed lithologic layering and sequencestratified database with89typical drilling borehole. Meanwhile,3D sequence oftarget area were established in the MVS ArcGIS software. The research result gavethe major boundaries and hypsometric contour maps, the typical stratigraphic section,three-dimensional geological modeling and visualization of the target area.(4) The analyzing of relation between the fluctuation of the boundary and thecorresponding faults:The southern tip of F1fault and the four breakpoints of F2faulthave dislocated to the base of the Quaternary, especially along the Xinkai and the eastof Langshan, the terrain is Low-lying West High East;The breakpoints of F3and F4 have dislocated to the base of the Quaternary, Low-lying Northwest High Southeast.
