In recent years, engineering machinery industry has developed rapidly with China’s infrastructure on the large scale. Under the premise of meeting construction performance, engineering machinery’s modelling and appearance has become the important factors of customer to select products, with prominent appearance is very popular with the consuming of all ages. At the moment, the engineering machinery competition more and more fierce, the manufacturer in order to improve the product quality, strive for more customers, invest a lot of money to optimize the traditional coating process, engineering machinery coating process has been promoted to the height of the historic.This paper was set in two coating production lines of a crane truck company. We optimized the two coating and two baking (2C2B) coating process and studied the two coating and one baking (2C1B) coating process. Mainly researches on supersaturated steam degreasing process, primer coating process, Topcoat painting process,2C1B coating process, meanwhile we studied in precoating&shielding process, finish mending process and frock protective material.Smeary cleaning of surface has always perplexed engineering machinery coating before shot-blasting. Using supersaturated steam to remove the oil before shot-blasting, experiment results reach the surface coating oil-removing requirement, this method oil-removing effect well, quick and environmental protection. It can be applied to the coating first process, through supersaturated steam oil-removing then shot blasting to ensure the quality of surface treatment.In this paper, the primer film thickness, which is important parameter of anti-corrosion, is determined by testing the salt spray of the shot blasted structural parts with the different primer film thickness. By optimizing the primer viscosity and nozzle diameter, spray pressure, spray distance, gun speed of airless spray gun, the primer film thickness can be obtained to meet anti-corrosion and coating efficiency requirements.Topcoat painting of truck crane structural parts is critical to directly impact on appearance. In this paper, three spray types such as high-pressure airless spraying, mixed air spraying and electrostatic spraying was investigated. By optimizing the nozzle diameter, spray pressure, spray distance and gun speed, the film thickness of crane structural parts can be obtained to meet the appearance of truck crane and coating efficiency requirements.The traditional painting process of truck crane jib needs to a long factory. However, the "wet on wet" painting process can save plant space and energy consumption. By adjusting the spraying viscosity, film thickness, substrate temperature, the "wet on wet" painting process can be realized. Some film properties are better than that of traditional painting process. Meanwhile, the painting efficiency is improved and energy consumption is reduced.In this study, we meet the achievement of production efficiency increased by30%, paint consumption reduced by30%. At the same time, the coating quality reaches the requirements of the Corporation. So, this study has a highly economic and practical value.
