Finite Element Analysis of Structural Property of Portal Cable Crane

Tower carries variety of several load cases in lifting process of cable crane.To ensure the overall strength and stability in lifting process of cable crane as wellas the safe and reliable of lifting process, the overall strength and stability of cablecrane tower should be analyzed under various operating conditions.In this thesis, the finite element model of cable cranes tower is established onthe basis of actual cross-section shape of components, according to the structuraldesign drawings of LQ2800KN cable crane provided by China ChemicalEngineering Third Construction Company Limited (TCC), on the background ofLQ2800KN cable crane practically used in the Yellow Railway Bridge of Huaishuoproject. The following aspects of LQ2800KN cable crane were studied:1. The author performed theoretical calculations on load-bearing cable systemof LQ2800KN cable crane and compared the advantages and disadvantagesbetween catenary method and parabolic method.2. The stability analysis (linear buckling analysis) of overall structure underhigh wind was carried out with the finite element software ANSYS, and wind cablerope was imposed to ensure the stability of overall structure.3. Stiffness and strength of LQ2800KN cable crane were analyzed by finiteelement method so that the structural deformation (displacement) and the stressdistribution were obtained. On the basis of the results, strength, stiffness andstability in working load case were analyzed. By deformation (displacement)control, steel cable and dorsal funiculus tension were analyzed as well as steelcable and dorsal funiculus tension suitable for all construction conditions weregiven respectively.According to the aspects above, the design of cable cranes were improved,ensuring the security and reliability of cable crane in the construction of theYellow Railway Bridge of Huaishuo project.
